Welcome to the relaunched The Staff of the Messenger, named because it’s a play on my screen name, Caduceus. As you can read in a little more detail in both the about section and the first real post on this blog, the caduceus was the symbol of the Greek god Hermes, the messenger of the gods. Thus the name. It was also used as a publisher’s mark from the 16th through the 19th century, and thus is a fairly effective symbol for me as well, as I am a freelance editor and writer.

This is a personal blog, and as such I will be discussing anything that catches my interest. I will endeavor to post content daily, though I can’t promise it will always be something large. This will probably mostly include geeky things, as I am a geek. My current big interest is the pen and paper roleplaying game Shadowrun. I’m currently running a Shadowrun campaign, and every Wednesday and Saturday I intend to post a small bit of material from said campaign; an NPC stat block, a prepped scene from an adventure, a house rule, a run report, or something. I also intend to say something about every piece of media I consume, whether it be novels, comic books, video games, TV shows, movies, or monkeys. I bet you didn’t know that monkeys are media, but they totally are.
